San Tan Leads & Rural Metro Come Together for Essential CPR & AED Workshop

In an empowering event today, San Tan Leads, a prominent business group in San Tan Valley, in collaboration with Rural Metro Fire Department, hosted a free CPR & AED training session at the San Tan Valley Veterans Center. This invaluable session aimed to equip residents with crucial lifesaving skills, emphasizing the importance of immediate response in emergency situations.

Shawn Gilleland, the Public Information Officer for Rural Metro, led the training, providing comprehensive insights into compression CPR techniques for both adults and infants. Attendees had the hands-on opportunity to practice these vital skills on mannequins, ensuring they left the session feeling more confident in their ability to assist in real-life emergencies.

In addition to CPR training, Gilleland shared his expertise on Automated External Defibrillator (AED) administration. This crucial part of the training demystified the process of using these life-saving devices, making it more approachable for everyday individuals to use in critical times. Furthermore, the training encompassed the demonstration on the use of dechoking devices and the proper handling of fire blankets, tools that can make a difference in saving lives during emergencies.
